Engine Problem causing Floor Mat Troubles?

November 5th, 2009

No one knows for sure about the safety of our Toyota vehicles. The initial thinking that incorrect floor mats were causing incidents of sudden acceleration in some models may be much more intricate than originally thought.
Several owners tell very similar stories, the car speeds up to near 100 miles per hour and brakes do nothing to control it. Some owners speculate that engine malfunctions are the problem. This fact however, has not been proven. NHTSA has not confirmed that anything is wrong with the drive by wire gas pedals on 5 Toyota models.ABC television showed a news program with two customers making this claim.Toyota dealers had not heard of this until ABC television came out with this.Toyota Dealers continue to get requests for Genuine Toyota Floormats however.
