Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. is instructing dealers to attach floor mats to seat frames on the driver’s side of select vehicles with self-locking wire ties to prevent the mats from snagging on gas pedals and causing unintended acceleration.

Toyota Motor Sales began sending out instructions about the fix to its regional sales offices on Thursday, Oct. 1. Regional personnel began distributing the information to dealers the next day.

He says the mats are to be secured to the driver’s seat frame with nylon self-locking wire ties, described as plastic straps that loop back into themselves and lock when pulled tight. Dealers also are to attach a label to the wire tie warning dealers and customers to ensure that these Toyota accessories are secured with restraining straps. Toyota vehicles involved are 2007-10 Camry’s, 2005-10 Avalon’s, 2004-09 Prius’s, 2005-10 Tacoma‘s and 2007-10 Tundras.

Booming North American demand pushed cumulative sales of hybrid vehicles at Toyota Motor Corp. past the 2 million-unit mark last month as the Japanese automaker marched closer to its goal of selling 1 million gasoline-electric cars per year sometime in the next decade.

As of Aug. 9, Toyota sold 2.017 million hybrids worldwide since the vehicles debuted in 1997.

Toyota reached the 2 million milestone after planning to sell about one million hybrids a year. The company came a little closer to the goal with this year’s launch of the popular third-generation Prius. Toyota expects that car alone to sell 600,000 units in its first full year on the market.

Today, Toyota sells 13 hybrid vehicle models in about 50 countries, and that isn’t including Toyota Parts liike their Camry Hybrid Parts, Prius Parts, and other hybrid Lexus model parts.

The newly appointed Toyota team is here to make changes that will affect all Toyota dealers in the future. The changes are to make the dealers more successful in the business and to create a more efficient profit.

One of these changes include cutting than lineup. Small Cars are becoming more and more popular, and the bigger vehicles are becoming obsolete. Throwing out the bigger models that don’t match local demand will cut down expenses. The third generation Prius price is dropping to stay competitive with Honda’s Insight.

Toyota isn’t planning on closing its factories to cut costs. They plan on slowing down production times, overtime, and shift work while making genuine Toyota parts and cars.

With these small changes, Toyota is projecting a recovery in two or three years.

Everyone is talking about the new “Cash for Guzzlers” plan. But, nobody seems to know all the details. Here is the run-down for the program:

§ The Dealer registers for the “Cash for Guzzlers” program

§ The Consumer trades in for a qualifying car

§ Government Credit is deducted from the purchase price of the new card

§ The amount you receive is dependent on the improvement in fuel economy. For a car, if the improvement is 4 mpg or more, you are eligible for a $3,500 credit. For more than a ten mpg improvement, your credit would be $4,500

The cars that are traded in are picked apart to collect the usable parts, and then the car is destroyed. We aren’t sure how many Toyota cars will be turned in with this plan. They would collect the usable Genuine Toyota parts, and then be crushed.

Competition between Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co. in the hybrid vehicle market is intensifying, with Honda hoping to gnaw away at the dominance of Toyota’s Prius by launching new hybrid models.

The fierce competition between the two leading Japanese automakers may lead to lower hybrid prices, which means more hyrbids out on the road.

The latest version of the Prius is so popular that would-be owners who place orders now must wait until mid-March 2010 at the earliest for delivery.

Hybrid vehicles make up more than half of Honda’s sales volume. Thanks to tax breaks and other government incentives, hybrids have become mainstream vehicles faster than expected.

Using genuine Toyota parts, the Toyota hybrids powered by Toyota Camry Parts and Prius Parts are built stronger, and are made to last. I think they will always have the upper-hand against Honda

The New 2010 Prius is still honoring its name, as the new model has been more than 90 percent redesigned and combined with one of the best aerodynamic performances in the world. The Prius has certain advances that help it achieve the world leading fuel efficiency of 38.0km/l2. It comes with four driving modes to match specific driving environments as well as a solar-powered ventilation system and other bold features. Since becoming the world’s first mass production hybrid, it has sold in more than 40 countries and has sold over 1.25 million units as of March 31, 2009.

The engine has a higher efficiency, while the motor, inverter, and other units are smaller, lighter, and more efficient. The high fuel efficiency and driving performance is equivalent to those of a 2.4-liter engine, while the Prius has a 1.8-liter engine. The engine raises the fuel efficiency at high speeds, because the engine reduces rpm. The Prius has the first ever electric-powered water pump that draws its energy from the battery. This reduces friction loss through constant control of the water flow and drive belt.

Slimmer front seatbacks and other slight adjustments create a roomier interior. A pre-crash safety system, vehicle stability control, six restraint system airbags, and headrests are available to ensure safety at the highest level. Improvements in the body reduce the likelihood of head injuries to pedestrians to achieve one of the highest levels of injury prevention. Review of materials and processing methods reduced organic compounds and unpleasant interior odors to levels agreeable with the industry standards. All of these changes use toyota parts.

The Prius. Where going green looks cool. And is easier on the wallet. Imagine driving in a stylish, ecofriendly car while saving money during the $4 a gallon gas period. That’s what I call a fashionable, smart car.

The Toyota Prius, like every car equipped with genuine Toyota parts, offers reliability, safety, and reasonable prices. However, the new 2010 Toyota Prius I comes with a lower price tag then ever at just $21,750.

In order to combat the Honda Insight’s $20,470 price tag, the new price for the Prius allows people interested in getting a reliable hybrid with Toyota Parts more affordable than ever.

Those interested in more features might consider looking at the four other Prius models which offer additional Toyota accessories at somewhat increased prices.

Prius models II through V range in price between $22,750 and $28,020, and include better speaker systems, Bluetooth, LED headlamps, and 17-inch wheels depending on the model.
